The Raytheon Technologies Story

Raytheon Technologies came into existence in Massachusetts in 1922 as the American Appliance Company. It was founded by a group of three individuals. Three years later, the company changed its name to Raytheon Manufacturing Company and started marketing its products under the Raytheon name. In 1928, the company entered into a merger with QRSQRS Company. In the 30s, the company had already developed a reputation for itself as the largest manufacturer of vacuum tubes. In the years after the Second World War, the company started manufacturing low and medium-powered television and radio transmitters and similar equipment to realize profit. 

In 1965, the company acquired a renowned manufacturer of refrigerators and air-conditioners, Amana Refrigeration Inc. Raytheon later used this company to market its microwave ovens. In 1997, this company acquired the defence and aerospace operations of Hughes Aircraft Company. A decade later, the company purchased Sarcos, a renowned robotics company. In 2009, Raytheon Technologies acquired BBN Technologies. A year later, Raytheon Technologies agreed to acquire Applied Signal Technology. In 2015, the company purchased Websense Inc, marking its venture into cybersecurity. In early 2020, this company finished its first radar antenna array for the US Army.
